Mubarakan is an Indian film which was released in January 2012. The film is directed by Suresh Krishna and produced by Bobby Bedi, Rahul Bedi, Bhushan Kumar and Gulshan Kumar. It stars Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal, Tabu and Tusshar Kapoor in lead roles. The story revolves around four friends who are trying to prove their innocence during the Emergency period of 1975-77 when India had a President-Prime Minister imposed military rule. The composer for this movie is A R Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, who also sang the songs for this movie which are composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Anil Kapoor commented that the movie was inspired by the film 'Ishq Ishq Ishq'. The film released in 2000 and the director of this film Nikhil Advani joked that he could not make any money because Salman Khan's film Yaadein (2001) released after his movie. The film was remade into Tamil as "Boss Engira Bhaskaran" starring Arya, Nayantara and Manoj Bajpayee with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Telugu as "Bodyguard" with Jr. NTR and Nayantara, The film was also remade in Bengali as "Jago Hua Savera" starring Dev and Koel Mallick, with music by Jeet Ganguly. The film released on 25 January 2012. The film released in 1600 cinemas worldwide including 155 prints in overseas markets. The songs from the film were released at a launch event on 12 December 2011 at Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai. Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal sang live during the event while Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy recreated the songs from the original 2010 Malayalam film "Bodyguard" by Gopi Sunder.
